Reception Admissions

Parents are welcome to visit the school before enrolling their children and can call in person or by telephone to make an appointment.

Parents are encouraged to register an interest in their child attending Bere Alston Primary School at least a year in advance as this helps the school in its organisation.  Parents are then legally required to apply on line at:

www.devon.gov.uk/admissionsonline

Children usually join our Reception Class in September (birth dates between 1st September to 28/29th February) and in January (birth dates between 1st March and 31st August).

We feel that starting school is a major step for both child and parents and we aim to make the transition from home to school as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

Early Entrants

Parents may apply for their children to be admitted one term earlier if there are special factors.  However, “early admissions” are at the discretion of Devon County Council and this policy applies to all Primary Schools in Devon.
